Lumla hit hard by landslide, water and power supply snapped
TAWANG, Jul 28: Torrential rain in many parts of Lumla sub-division has caused floods and landslides, putting thousands of lives at risk. Power and water supply of the region remains snapped as heavy landslides damaged electricity poles and pipelines.
Many houses have been damaged in Kharteng, Lumpo, Sakpret and Mangnam villages, displacing hundreds as houses have been waterlogged and damaged by heavy boulders triggered by heavy rain and landslides.
The Lumla-Bomdir route, which is the lifeline of the area remains cut off at several places due to massive mudslides. Lumla-Tashigaon road has also been damaged at several points while, Bleteng and Buri villages in Dudunghar circle remains cut off.
'The retaining wall of Yuser primary school has collapsed, Namtsering ground wall has been damaged, CC step of Melongkhar residential school has sunk and the PWD road to helipad via New Lumla has been damaged due to landslide', Lumla CO, Tashi Dondup informed.
Meanwhile, ADC Lumla, Mika Nyori accompanied by Lumla, CO and SDMO along with other members of Sub Divisional Executive Committee inspected affected areas and took stock of the situation.
'Many government as well as private infrastructures have been severely damaged. The Disaster Management team visited the affected areas and took stock of the situation. Few villages have been totally cut off due to damaged roads', the ADC stated adding that essential service departments have been directed to coordinate with the other departments to provide uninterrupted service to the people. He further informed that the Sub-Divisional Emergency Operation Center is functioning to receive immediate reports of any calamity. Landslide triggered by rain also damaged Khet-Bongleng PMGSY road at various points while flash flood swept away construction materials of the under-construction bridge at Chuskor Rong.Road connectivity to Bongleng, Kharung and Bomba villages are also reported to have been cut off from the rest of world.

Monsoon unleashes devastation in Tirap
KHONSA, Jul 28: After flood wracked havoc in several districts in Arunachal, now, Tirap is facing the brunt of heavy monsoon rains as incessant rains over the past few weeks left a trail of devastation in the sensitive border district.
Many government buildings and other important assets are under constant threat from landslide triggered by incessant rains in Khonsa, Lazu, Dadam, Borduria, Bari-Basiep CO headquarters and Deomali.
Massive landslide blocked Khonsa-Bogapani-Joypur road in many points causing difficulties in traffic movement. The perennial huge road block point near Pongkong on Khonsa-Lazu road has been further aggravated by incessant rains over the weeks. Fortunately, the important border road is kept open for vehicular movement by the GREF but not without risk.
Many vulnerable road points between Tirath hydel and Dadam have been severely affected by landslides. The important Changlang-Khonsa road popularly known as CK road has also been devastated by frequent landslides triggered by heavy rains.
The Khonsa-Longding road which is a vital inter district road is on the verge of collapse due to massive land erosions at many locations.
The beautiful Deomali is also threatened by increasing water level of Chatjo river. A change in course of the river is also threatening the newly constructed Deomali badminton club while low lying areas, including KVK and Deomali bazaar are on the verge of submergence.
Tirap being a sensitive border district, there is a huge presence of security agencies needs all weather roads to facilitate smooth movement of the security forces.
Though the monsoon rain has brought untold sufferings to the people of Tirap district, there was no report of loss of life.
Tirap Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha has asked the people to remain alert and also instructed the DDMO and related departments to assess the extent of loss caused by landslides and flash floods. DIPRO
AAPSU urges Govt. to expedite flood damage restoration process
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) urged the State Government to expedite restoration works of damages in the current flood, relief and rehabilitation of the displaced people.
A-20 member team of AAPSU along with local students union is currently stationed in Namsai assisting the flood affected people by way of distributing relief materials in coordination with the district administration.
Considering the critical flood situation, AAPSU led by its president Kamta Lapung, has decided to continue and expand its relief and rescue operations to other flood affected areas until all the major rivers, particularly Noa Dehing recedes to its normal level.
While appreciating the prompt initiative by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and local legislators of those flood affected districts in giving succor to hapless people, AAPSU president Lapung urged Pema to ensure that the affected people are not deprived of their basic requirements like, safe drinking water, ration items, cloths, medical assistance etc at this hour of crisis.
AAPSU also urged the Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to use his influence to get a central package sanctioned for flood hit Namsai district.
Further, AAPSU urged respective local administrations to start retrieving missing and displaced domestic animals and their proper treatment to save the farmers from incurring further losses. The students union also appealed to the concern authority to provide alternative arrangement for the students of JNV at Mahadevpur, which is completely submerged in flood water and also special package to restore the damages.
The AAPSU team is currently led by its vice-chairman (vigilance) Jango Hallai under the guidance of former NESO secretary general Gumjum Haider and its incumbent chief co-ordinator Pritam Bhai Sonam.
AAPSU launched its relief and rescue operations almost a week ago under the leadership of Lapung.
Police crackdown on drug peddlers in Namsai

DIYUN, Jul 28: A person named Ladrisanga Ralte,44 years, son of late V.I.Thlira was arrested yesterday afternoon by Diyun Police for possession of suspected Brown Sugar.
Diyun P.S. OC in charge T.Uli upon receiving specific input is said to have gone to the residence of Ralte. After thorough search, two poly packets of brown sugar was recovered from Ralte's Bolero jeep bearing registration number AS 01X 6066. There are witnesses to the operation. As soon as the banned drugs were recovered, Ralte was immediately arrested under Section 22 (b) of NDPS Act in Diyun P.S. Case No.16/16. A total of 8.85 grams was shown by police as the seized substance though the actual amount is thought to be more.
Today Ralte was produced in the court of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bordumsa from where he was granted bail. Reportedly, police were under tremendous pressure right from arresting the accused. Normally, people arrested under NDPS Act attracts stringent punishments but accused has been able to escape jail term. The police also declined to give any further details regarding the arrest or provide photographs of the seized drugs.
Alert police and vigilant members of All Namsai Area Youth Association (ANAYA) have caught nine persons, including one Chungta Laphai, in connection with drugs peddling from flood ravaged Namsai district. Of them, two are said to be teachers.
The police team led by sub inspector Nang Kyamo Khen recovered several grams of substance suspected to be drugs during the raid conducted at Kongyaw village in Namsai.
All the arrested persons have been put in jail.
ANAYA appealed to the district administration not to grant them bail and punish them as per law.
DMO issues warning on vector borne disease
YUPIA, Jul 28: The District Medical Office, Yupia has appealed to the people of capital region to remain alert as there are possibilities of outbreak of vector borne diseases, which has reported to have a very high BI (Breteau Index) indicating potential out break for dengue and other vector-borne diseases during this transmission season and require immediate strategy to reduce vector density.
The office of DMO, Yupia has also initiated steps for source reduction and Information Education Communication (IEC) and Behavior Change Communication (BCC) activities in order to control the outbreak.
A team of NVBDCP staffs has also been deputed to do source reduction and to impart IEC/BCC in the entire Itanagar Municipal Corporation wards starting from ward no 1 to 30, including few rural areas adjacent to Chimpu and Doimukh, which survey reports shows a very high index.
It further urged all the residents, PRIs, traders, IMC wards members, government institutions like office and schools to cooperate with the health personnel of the NVBDCP in their endeavor for imparting IEC/BCC and source reductions activities at the various places. (DIPRO)
Narrow escape for passengers
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: A country boat was swept downstream after it developed engine failure and was stranded mid river with about 20 odd passengers on the Dibang river between Bizari and Jia.
A Team led by Bomhin (Kibung ) Tayeng from Nature Unlimited organized a daring mid river rescue operation & safely evacuated all stranded passengers.
It may be recalled that the same team of boys were involved in evacuation of more than 200 people during the floods at Anpum last year.
Local MLA Gum Tayeng extended heartfelt appreciation for the selfless service rendered by the young men.
She also assured to take up the matter with the govt for suitable recognition of their act of bravery.
BJP for inquiry into withdrawal of Rs.2.29 Cr. labour cess
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Arunachal Pradesh unit has demanded for a thorough investigation into the withdrawal of Rs.2.29 crores from Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Workers Construction Board during the bye-election of 27th Liromoba assembly constituency.
In a release, the BJP unit stated that a proper investigation through an independent investigation agency is needed to unearth the kingpin and other involved into the entire episode of the fraudulent withdrawal of public money.
The Labour Commissioner and Secretary had lodged FIRs at Itanagar and Aalo police stations for the withdrawal of the amount which was labour cess money. The Aalo police has failed to investigate into the case despite filing of the FIR by the Secretary and Commissioner. It is doubtful that the Aalo police will conduct free and fair investigation into the case, added the release.
Further one accused arrested for the case, Pradeep Mishra, is seeking anticipatory bail at the Guwahati High Court, which had been earlier dismissed by the Naharlagun Bench, Guwahati High Court.
APC to conducts photography contest in August

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Much to the delight of amateur and professional photographers, Arunachal Photography Club (APC) is coming up with photography contest cum charity exhibition to mark, the World Photography Day on August 19, 2016.
This was informed by Arunachal Photography Club (APC) General Secretary Teli Ringu Camdir at a press conference held here this afternoon at Press Club. Theme of photography contest would be "Tribal Customs, Heritage and Landscape of Arunachal Pradesh with objective to project Arunachal's image of eastern Paradise of the Himalaya through photography, said Ringu. The charity exhibition will be conducted on same day and fund raised from exhibition will be donated to charity home, Ringu added.
There are two categories in the contest;DSLR and Cellphone.
First prize of DSLR category is rupees ten thousand and rupees seven thousands for second prize, while rupees five thousand and three thousand for first and second prize respectively in Cellphone/Mobile category, APC informed.
The contest is open for all, and submitted photos must be atleast 640 pixels on the shorter side and not more than 2000 pixels on the longer side. The photo must be in JEPG format with no larger than 2 MB. It further said that submitted photos must contain orginial EXIF meta data information, however no logos, border, copyright marks, identifying marks or any other visible references are allowed.
Adhoc Committee formed
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: State Legislative Assembly speaker T N Thongdok has constituted an Adhoc committee to examine the grievances of Former Legislator's Welfare Association regarding enhancement of pension amount and medical allowances of Ex-Legislators.
Consisting of former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul as the chairman and MLAs Tamiyo Taga, Tumke Bagra, Pasang Dorjee Sona and Tapuk Taku as members, the committee will submit its report to the speaker by August 31 next.
21 cases of Hepatitis 'B' detected
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Atleast 21 cases of Hepatitis 'B' were detected in a free screening camp for Hepatitis 'B' and 'C' viruses at Heema hospital here on Thursday. The camp was organized by Indian Medical Association, Arunachal chapter in collaboration with Heema hospital to mark the occasion of World Hepatitis Day.
A total of 645 patients were attended to by a team of doctors, technicians and nurses of the hospital led by its medical superintendent Dr Kesang W Thongdok. No cases of hepatitis 'C' were detected.
Blood from the positive cases were further sent out for PCR DNA quantitative test at a discount rate. The test which costs around Rs 7800/- normally were availed by the patients at just Rs 2500/-. Free consultation regarding hepatitis viruses, their infection and vaccination schedule were provided to the patient during the camp.
APIC impose penalty
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed penalty of Rs 25000/- on PIO cum EE, PWD, Seppa, East Kameng district, Chayang Tajo division for deliberately defying orders of the commission in connection with the appeal made by Sime Lochung, Jelly Bokar and Kyasang Fachang seeking information.
The commission further directed that in case of failure to comply with its order, arrest warrant will be issued against the PIO.
Tarh Nachung elected as Deputy Chief Councilor
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Tarh Nachung, Councillor of Ward No. 29, has been elected unopposed as Deputy Chief Councillor (DCC) of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) on Thursday.
The election was necessitated following resignation of incumbent DCC Kipa Babu in June.
CM inspect landslide hit AG office
ITANAGAR, July 28: While on an inspection of the landslide site which led to collapse of a wall near Accountant General's office at MOWB-II on July 25, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday has instructed the CPWD Chief Engineer, the executing agency to immediately reconstruct the RCC retaining wall.
The CM asked the department to build an extra support to the retaining wall to protect the compound and the office building of the Accountant General. He also directed the SE PWD, Capital Division A to immediately clear the landslide debris deposited on the road and to keep the road thorough for the vehicular movement.
The CM was informed that the CPWD Chief Engineer is arriving to take stock of the situation and assured to take remedial measures as per the directives.
MLA Markio Tado, MLA, former minister Kahfa Bengia, SE PWD, Rotu Techi and officials of CPWD accompanied the CM during the inspection.
MLA seeks people’s cooperation for road dev
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Legislator Techi Kaso has appealed to the people to extend cooperation to the Government in its effort to develop road network in the state.
Roads are vital for socio-economic development of any country and state and people should extend whole-hearted cooperation to the government, the executing agencies, Kaso said while addressing an awareness programme on road and drugs at Mopin-Soulng ground here on Thursday organized by All Arunachal Pradesh National Highway Development Committee.
Referring to roads in capital, Kaso said that though the authority has been making its all efforts to keep the roads safe and commuter friendly some people with selfish interest are not cooperating with it.
Many road widening works are in halt due to non-cooperation of the people, Kaso, who said to have been trying his level best to convince the capital dwellers on the importance of broadening the roads, said.
"I have tried many a times to deal with those people but whenever roads are built it got destroyed. I alone cannot make it happen," he said and sought support and cooperation of public.
People must understand that the roads are not constructed for the government but for the benefit of the people, he emphatically said.
Kaso also cautioned the youths against use of drugs and its consequences.
Describing the impacts of drugs on the users, their families and the society as a whole, Kaso advised the youths to abstain themselves from using drugs and other psychotropic substances which may ruin their lives.
AAPSU president Kamta Lapung appealed to the State Government to broaden the roads and highway and assured the union's full support to the government. He spoke eloquently on the harmful effects of drugs abuse.
AAPNHDC president Kabak Char also expressed concern over drugs menace and appealed to the youths, particularly students to refrain from the social evil.
Mock drill on disaster preparedness
YINGKIONG, Jul 28: Mock drills on different disasters like earthquake, fire accidents, floods, landslides besides, First Aid, search and rescue operation etc. were organized at VKV School here on Wednesday last as part of a day-long awareness programme on disaster management.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Upper Siang DC, Remo Kamki emphasized the importance of imparting such training to the school going children as that they are the future of the state and nation. They should learn the basic methods, procedure, guidelines to protect every individual members of the society and save themselves from any dangers, disasters, devastations like earthquake, floods, landslides, any accidents etc. The DC further advised the school children and teaching faculty to spread the knowledge acquired from the demonstration to others.

Culvert collapses snapping road
BANDERDEWA, Jul 28: The slab culvert on approach road to firing range of Police Training Centre (PTC), Banderdewa has collapsed snapping the road.
The Councillor of Ward-30 Tai Tasung, who inspected the area with the ward members and official of the PTC on Wednesday, appealed to the state government and concern department to immediately restore the RCC slab culvert and approach road for the convenience of the trainees.
Govt turns down IMFL unit in Niglok

PASIGHAT, Jul 28: Much to the joy of people and NGO like Women Against Social Evils (WASE) who had strongly pleaded before the state government not to approve/allow setting up of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) Distillation Unit at Industrial Growth Centre, Niglok, government has finally turned down the application citing public opposition. The government has intimated to Project Manager, Industrial Growth Centre, Niglok- Ngorlung East Siang that the application of M/s Tsong Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. Sikkim has been not considered owing to various social reasons.
WASE team had carried out a massive public campaign against Sikkim based M/s Tsong Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. After it applied for setting up of a IMFL distillation unit at Industrial Grown Centre, Niglok.
While talking to this reporter, WASE General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong informed that they are thankful to the state government for rejecting the proposal of setting up of IMFL distillation unit.
36th VKV opens at Chayangtajo
CHAYANGTAJO, Jul 28: The 36th Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) of the state was declared open at Chayangtajo by East Kameng DC Rajeev Takuk on July 25.
Terming the occasion as historic, the DC lauded the efforts of local MLA Karya Bagang and her team in realizing the dream of opening a VKV at Chayangtajo. The DC stated that the educational needs and aspirations of poor students who are not able to afford private schools away from the area will be fulfilled with the school.
Takuk said all stakeholders, parents, students and teachers would have to play their part and discharge their duties truthfully and honestly to develop the school. Welcoming the first batch of 70 students in Classes I, II and III, the DC called on them to think out of the box and study with dedication and commitment. The DC further assured to provide all possible help to the school within his capacity.
Speaking on the occasion, ZPM Lama Bagang advised the general public to help the school in its qualitative growth in the coming years. The ZPM along with other PRI members donated a new motorcycle for the school which was handed over to the principal by the DC.

Ensure every child receives ORS, DMO asks health functionaries

DAPORIJO, Jul 28: District medical officer (DMO) Nyage Geyi asked health functionaries to ensure that every child under five years receives the Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) and Zinc packets during Diarrhea Control Fortnight in Upper Subansiri district.
Addressing the district level coordination and steering committee meeting cum orientation training on intensified diarrhea control fortnight organized by District Health Society here on Wednesday, the DMO said that union health ministry has launched the programme to check deaths due to diarrhea which comes with the onset of monsoon.
During the fortnight, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) will visit every household and administer ORS to children below five years. They will also educate people how to prepare ORS and counsel them on the benefits of ORS and Zinc in diarrhea treatment, the DMO said.
The ASHA workers, nurses and other stake holders were taught about the correct procedures of preparing ORS, causes of diarrhea and its treatment by Dr. Hankar.
Extra Assistant Commissioner Manek Bui briefed about various health related schemes and programme of the government and various loopholes in implementation of these programmes leading to failure in achieving their aim and objectives.
He advised the health and ASHA workers to coordinate with Anganwadi workers to reach out to every household for success of the programme.
Lohit back to normalcy
TEZU, Jul 28: Lohit district is recovering after the devastating following incessant rain and floods. The weather in Tezu has been improving gradually since Wednesday morning. The water level in the adjoining rivers of Lohit and many streams has receded and are at normal level by Thursday.
A report from the district administration stated that the people of the district maintained patience and did not panic and cooperated with the district administration to minimize the causality and loss of property during the flood which had started on July 16.
Normalcy has returned and no untoward incidents had happened during the flood in Tezu Township. There was no shortage of edible food items and other supplies during the flood time. The college and schools are now open with students going as per routine.
The water levels of all streams in Sunpura circle have also come down to normal level and people are returning to their homes and back to normal routine.
The restoration work on flood damaged roads and embankments are being done by the concerned departments who have been continuously engaged since the flood time.
The road connectivity has been restored at Changliang and Durra Nallah by the WRD department with ITBP and BRTF personnel.
The Allubari Ghat has also opened and light motor vehicles are crossing the river.
The National Highway 52 via Brahmakund road has also been restored and transportation has resumed from Parsuramkund road to Tezu and Tinsuka, Assam.
Further, medical teams are making routine checkup for Malaria, Typhoid, and other epidemic related communicable diseases.
Lohit Deputy Commissioner, Danish Ashraf has appealed the citizens to stay prepared for any disaster and take precautionary measures to avoid damage of both life and properties. The DC also called for proper coordination among the District Disaster Management authorities and public, NGOs, stakeholders and government institutions. (DIPRO)
Fish seedling released into Hieng River
YINGKIONG, Jul 28: The Upper Siang DC, Remo Kamki released fish seedling into the Hieng river which is about 5 km away from Yingkiong on Wednesday as part of a river ranching programme amidst the presence of DFDO, DPO, EAC (D), staffs of Fishery Development departments, PRI members and Gaon Burah of Simong.
The progamme was organized by the department of Fisheries development in collaboration with GPTI, a Vocational Training provider.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the need for organizing more such programmes for maintaining and preserving ecological balance which seems very much essential in the present global scenario. He also cautioned all against the use of generator, explosive materials, bleaching powder for the purpose of fishing.

Kargil Vijay Diwas observed at Aalo military station
AALO, July 28: The Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed in a befitting manner by the Aalo Military Station at Bogdo Ground on July 26.
Attending the occasion, retired Indian Air Force Group Captain, Mohanto Panging called on the Indian Army to draw inspiration from the Kargil War and keep constant vigil on the border of the Himalayan state.
The Commander 5 Mountain Brigade stated that people from North East are rendering good services to Indian Army and sacrifice of late Tape Yajo is commendable. Efforts are being made to name Siyom Army Gate and road starting from that end to the residence of great soldier after late Tape Yajo, added the Commander.
West Siang Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu lauded the crucial role of the Indian Army for capturing the important posts from the Pakistan backed infiltrators during Kargil War. Assuring all support from the district administration, the DC also exhorted them to keep up the spirit.

Teaching-learning process should be made more interactive: DC
BOMDILA, Jul 28: West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop advocated that the teaching-learning process should be made more interactive in order to draw maximum attention of the students.
Dr. Swaroop, on being informed of the poor results in class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education during a coordination meeting of principals and headmasters of all the government higher secondary and secondary schools in West Kameng here on Thursday, stressed the importance of regular inspection of schools by administrative officers to ensure smooth functioning.
She also said that the principals and headmasters should be more concerned with the functioning of their schools along with discharging duties.
The academic performances of the schools in the district were thoroughly reviewed; wherein it was disclosed by the Deputy Director of School Education that there was huge difference in pass percentage between government and private schools.

Tirap DRDA GBM meeting held
ITANAGAR, July 28: The 50th governing body meeting of Tirap district DRDA was held in DC's conference hall, Khonsa on Thursday.
Addressing the members, Tirap Deputy Commissioner, Ravi Jha said that there was an urgent need to improve the feed-back mechanism for better coordination and effective implementation of the government schemes. While lamenting the slow pace of most of the schemes due to various reasons, the DC urged the BDOs and ZPMs to expedite the work to ensure timely completion of on-going projects. Asking the DRDA and ZPMs to implement the flagship central scheme PMAY properly to benefit the needy beneficiaries, Jha requested the ZPC to hold the Gram Sabha meeting at the earliest. He asked the line departments of DRDA to work in close coordination to achieve the desired results.
ZPC Sontung Bangsia urged the BDOs and government departments to consult the ZPMs before submitting proposals to the government. She underscored the importance of the GPMs to make the Gram Sabhas effective.
Earlier PD, DRDA, Dahey Sangno informed that after the introduction of MGNREGA, most of the development activities of DRDA were focused on MGNREGA in rural areas. Sangno further highlighted some of the priority areas under DRDA and sought willing cooperation from all the line departments and the ZPMs.
All the BDOs in their presentations placed the labour budget pertaining to their respective blocks and also put forth the scopes and challenges in their blocks. The ZPMs also actively participated in the day-long discussion.
Proposals placed by the members were approved and passed unanimously.
Committee calls for maintenance of Potin-Ziro road
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Road Restoration Committee of Potin to Ziro road has called for immediate maintenance of the portion of the road saying that it has not been repaired for the last many years.
Potin-Hoj road is to be taken up for widening under trans Arunachal Highway project but since many years no activities have been taken up by concern department or the district administration, its representation to the chief minister read. It has given a week's time for the government to response and has warned of launching democratic movement if the demand is not fulfilled.
Road cleared
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Ward no. 5 Youth Welfare Association on Thursday cleared the accumulated mud on the CC road of Ajing Colony here which was caused by heavy rainfall. BJP leader Tame Phassang also volunteered for the work.
Free medical camps by VKAJ
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Over 500 patients were treated in free medical camps organized by mobile medical team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti (VKAJ) in various villages in Changlang district recently.
The camps were held at New Chingsa, Phangyak and New Khimiyong villages of Kharsang and Miao area and Bubang, Chingsa and Khuchep villages of Changlang area. The needy patients were also provided medicines free of cost.

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The All Bameng, Khenewa & Lada Students' Union has in a four-point memorandum submitted to the East Kameng DC on Wednesday, appealed to him to initiate early steps to address various issues affecting people of the area.
It has sought early resumption of electricity supply in Khenewa, besides uninterrupted BSNL service in Bameng and completion of Pakke to Bameng road. The Union further appealed to the DC to take strict action against irregular staffs of Khenewa PHC.
Guru Purnima observed at Tezu
TEZU, Jul 28: Guru Purnima was observed by conducting a priest felicitation programme at Govt. Middle School, Pomliang by Vivekananada Kendra Arun Jyoti Tezu on July 24.
Mishmi Faith Promotion Society, president, Badamso Tayang felicitated Mishimi priests Sotem Kri of Huchaliang village and Sobru Thedn of Pomliang for their leading role in preserving and practicing the old cultural values with encouraging Mishimi prayer movement system in Tanchaw Klumya.
Around 200 people attended the programme in which Tanshow Klumya Committee of Tafrogam, Tezu, Pomliang and Donyi Polo Yelam Kebang, Tezu performed prayers.
Kruleso Ngadong of VKAJ, Tezu spoke on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Secretary Mishimi Faith Promotion Society, Amoso Khamblai spoke on the Mishimi Prayer Movement.
